What emerged was a conviction that contemplation is crucial to a life of activism.
Phileena Heuertz, director of Word Made Flesh, released her first book this spring. Pilgrimage of a Soul: Contemplative Spirituality for the Active Life is available through InterVarsity Press. She and her husband have been with Word Made Flesh since its beginning in 1991.
