January 2011 Prayer Letter

Hello!

With things at work moving along at a frantic pace, I thought it would be a good idea to step back for a bit and write an update. This being my first year-end at Word Made Flesh, I’m gaining more and more practice with time management skills. There are more donations coming in which means there are more receipts going out. Also, I have to review our books and make sure that things are in line for our upcoming audit. And then there is all the tax and government documentation that needs to filed and sent. Not to mention the normal responsibilities that I hold.

But you didn’t open this letter so that you could listen to me complain about how terribly busy I am, and lucky for you, I have no intention of doing that. Strangely enough, I’m enjoying the increase in workload. It’s a challenge, and in an odd way, it evokes my competitiveness. It’s me against the mounting stacks of paper on my desk, and I don’t plan on being overrun by a hoard of documents. (There’s a sermon illustration in here somewhere, but I’ll let you find it.)

I have a bit of good news to share with you. After months of searching, I’ve finally settled on a church to belong to. Due to a mix of indecisiveness and just not finding a good “fit,” this process had been extended much longer than I anticipated. The church that I’ve been attending is called Church of Resurrection, and the best way that I can describe it to you is, “A diverse family united in God’s love.” I’m looking forward to getting more and more involved. This is truly an answer to prayer, and I just want to say thank you for your prayers!

Some of you have asked me if I will get to do some traveling to Word Made Flesh’s international fields. The answer is yes! I am hoping to visit a field this coming summer. However, I don’t have plans in place to visit a specific field. Be assured that I will keep you up-to-date when plans are in place. I am really excited for this potential field visit! That being said, I will need to raise some additional support in order to buy plane tickets for traveling. Please pray for this process as it is in its early stages. Thank you!

Here is a general update on how raising support is going. I am currently 54% of the way to my goal of $2,000 for monthly support commitments. I will be moving off of WMF funding in May, which means that I will start being paid entirely from my personal support account. That also means that if you’ve ever thought about supporting me at Word Made Flesh, this is the perfect time!

God has blessed me over and over in my time at Word Made Flesh. And it’s because of you that I’m able to continue to serve here. Thank you for your prayer and financial support! It means so much to know that I have family and friends that are willing to give of themselves on behalf of me, this organization, and on behalf of those who are poor all over the world. Thank you!

With Gratitude,

Jeff Swart
