Langley family May 2009 update letter

May 2009

Greeting in Jesus’ name!

The community is finally getting settled into the minstry center, and looking forward to our minstry programs starting up the first week of May.  The demolition process is moving forward, although we have yet to hear the first hammer blow fall; at this point our petition is still being processed in the district Municipality.  Keep praying about the demolition!

We have concluded the first part of the Back to School Program for 2009 with all the young children who are attending primary school.  As always, listening to the mother’s share about their hopes and dreams for their children’s future touches our hearts.  We hope that you can feel part of this effort, as many of you pray for the Back to School Campaign and support it in various ways.  This year, we have set aside a portion of the budget in order to help some of the young adults attend a vocational institute.  We are excited about this opportunity, thanks to your gifts!

Natalia and Isabel are both enjoying school.  Natalia continues to greet us at the door with a running hug and a smiley face.  She is picking up Spanish very well; she can understand many more words in Spanish than she can say yet, but is on track to be caught up with the other kids by the end of this year.  Isabel is enjoying drama club, and in the upcoming talent show will be playing the part of Bell from Beauty and the Beast.  Who else could so perfectly fit the bill?  Because the girls are at different schools, in opposite parts of the city, with differing pick up and drop off times, our families daily movements are fairly hectic these days.  But we are usually home by 6pm, and enjoy making dinner together, and dancing in the living room until the kids are in bed at 8pm and the house quiets down; then we can flop onto the couch, gather our thoughts, and give thanks for the day.

We are beginning to make plans for our visit back to the US this summer; we look forward to spending time with many of you, sharing experiences and giving thanks together for what God is doing among us.  We found decently priced airline tickets, and because of the recent volatility in the market, we decided to purchase them.  Our support account went into the red after that purchase, and so we ask that you consider a special gift to help us cover the cost of our 2009 US visit.  Our total ticket cost on Delta was $2700 for the four of us, or $675 each  (a VERY good price for tickets from Lima all the way to Columbus, Ohio).  We know that God will provide for this need according to His will for us, and thank you in advance.

Love, to all of you,

The langleys
