Dear Family and Friends,
As I begin to write this I am filled with joy and excitement because of all of the amazing things God has been doing since the last time I wrote. Amy and I are seeing the outcome of all of your prayers and are overwhelmed by Gods divine power! We are excited to see more and more people interested in our ministry and above that, a desire to become involved. The last time I wrote I had asked you to pray that we would find a place to live rent free from now until departure. Well, we have begun to pack!!! Our friends from church who have an extra bedroom and bath have opened there home to us. God is so faithful!
While I was running the other day, something occurred to me. What I am about to say is obvious and simple, but, the words still linger in my head. "We are not just changing single lives. We are changing Generations" God is not only sending us to just change the "now" but the FUTURE. Many of the families we will come into contact with, the women who work in the bars, through the changes in their life God will reach in and change the path of their future generations. Our ministry is going to be a long road, maybe we won't even be on it at the end, but it is what we do in the "now" that will determine the roads end. I know that God is calling an army of people to join Him down this long, hard road. Please continue to pray for your role in this quest to Thailand.
We still seek partners to join us in prayer and to speak on behalf of the poor as well as for the children forced into the sex industry. A favorite quote of Amy's by Tupuc Amaru Shakur is "I'm not saying I'm going to change the world, but I guarantee that I will spark the brain that will change the world." Together we can plant that spark that will raise up Thai leaders to change the exploitation of women and children enslaved by poverty and prostitution. As many of you are aware the time is going by so quickly and we are now just 3 months away form our planned departure in June. With this comes our need to spend a portion of this letter emphasizing our financial needs. We are excited that a lot of you have been telling us that you have made the decision to support us financially on a monthly basis. Thank you! Thank You! Thank You! I want to encourage you to begin now. We must raise all our needed support by May in order to receive the go ahead to purchase our tickets.
We still have about $8,000 dollars to raise before we are cleared for departure. This includes 3 months of living, Airfare, and international health insurance. Additionally it is important that our ministry be able to maintain itself financially, as we had stated in previous letters, our ministry will be able to maintain itself on $3,000 a month. In 2007 we had 20 people support us financially, a total of 6 have committed to giving every month. We know that with the 80 of you who currently have been receiving these letters and interested in this work that these financial milestones can be met. Please don't let these numbers discourage you because they are not discouraging us! I will be attaching a direct deposit form with this letter because a lot of you have been requesting this. Please continue to pray and to seek Gods will.
