May Prayer Letter

May 2009

This morning we gathered around a big red rug for weekly prayer.  Chris guided us through Ezekiel 37:1-14 and asked us to reflect on what imagery stood out to us from the scripture and why we were struck by it. “And I will lay sinews upon you, and will cause flesh to come upon you, and cover you with skin, and put breath in you, and you shall live, and you shall know that I am YHWH” v.6. I shared about the warmth of the breath of God and how our senses can experience God’s breathe. I can feel, see, smell, taste, and hear God because God is near; I am asked to wait and listen, be still, patient and obedient. God is faithful, God is close. I want and need to be better at waiting. I encourage you to read this passage and note what strikes you; then take time and reflect on why that is and how to use what you discover.

I am thrilled to say that this letter is being typed at my new desk on my first day at work!  Can you believe it?!  I found out about two weeks ago that my support account reflected a balance that made an April 13th start date possible, so here I am!  I have beautiful yellow daisies bringing color to my space, an empty paper tray ready for items to be filed, and a great list of tasks that will make up my first work week.  It has been a wonderful start to an exciting season of my life.  I am so thankful to share this with you!

It has been through your generous gifts that this is possible.  You have faithfully and unselfishly donated, showing such commitment to myself and WMF.  It is through your emotional and relational support that my journey back into the WMF Omaha office has been one of life’s greatest blessings.

Thank you!

Thank you for time spent reading my letters.  Thank you for moments you took to think about and pray for WMF.  Thank you for helping to make our work possible.  Thank you on behalf of all WMF staff, friends and communities for sharing in our vision.  Thank you for believing in me as I make this vocational decision.

Please continue to share this experience with me.

As monthly sponsors, please continue to faithfully give.  If you are not already a monthly donor, please continue to consider the possibility of becoming one; I am still about $600 short of my monthly need so your gifts are really needed.  If you would, please take time to read the stories published in the Cry.  Also, the website wordmadeflesh.org is another really great way to learn more about the organization.  Please let me know if there is anything about WMF that you would like me to expand on or if there is anything you are interested in learning more about.

It is exciting to walk through some training and get to learn my role here.  Thank you again for the huge part you play in my being here!  I am really looking forward to sharing my journey with you and I am hopeful we will uncover new treasures of the Kingdom of God.

My journey with Christ has led me to WMF.  In this place, I am searching for greater self-awareness and understanding f the gifts God has given me.  It is my hope that my life would bring glory to God and benefit the most vulnerable among whom we are called.    Thank you for your partnership!

Love,
Hilary
