We are grateful for the opportunity Word Made Flesh was given to be an exhibitor at the 2018 Urbana Conference in St. Louis, Missouri.
Urbana is a large, long-standing, missions conference which occurs once every three years. This year the number of college students attending was around 11,000. We are thankful that we were able to connect with hundreds of missionally-minded and missionally-hearted students from around the world.
WMF joined together with 3 other New Friars organizations (Servants, InnerChange and Servant Partners) and used our shared booth space. In a room full of missional agencies seeking the attention of attendees, we see our partnering as a healthy pastoral and prophetic symbol of collaboration over competition.
We constructed a structure we lovingly called “The Shack” and invited students to come in and have tea with us. It was an amazing time to connect with young people who are excited about following Jesus and using their gifts.
Pray for us as we now are seeking to follow-up with our new contacts and as you are led, pray for these many students who said “yes” to attending a missions conference as they are considering next steps.
