Dear Friends and Family, December 1, 1998
So much is happening in our Word Made Flesh community that I thought I should drop you a note to let you know about the additions to our community and the prayer requests we have.
Our bi-annual Word Made Flesh board of directors weekend was held at the end of October proving to be a fruitful time of decision making and community development. At that meeting the board of directors formally approved and appointed 3 new missionaries to the Word Made Flesh community.
Stuart and Christine Erny have been dear friends over the past 8 years and it is a dream come true to include them in this family. Stuart and Christine, along with their 6 month old baby boy, Wesley, will be leaving in May for a 2 year term in Nepal. While in Nepal they will work with street children in the city of Kathmandu.
Howard Young, a member of the 1998 Nepal Servant Team, was also appointed as a full-time field staff worker for our Lima, Peru field. In August of 1999 Howard will be leaving for a 2 year term to assist our current Servant Team Coordinators (Walter and Adriana Forcatto) in Lima. Howard grew up in Columbia, South America so his move to Peru will be a sort of homecoming.
While our overseas staff continues growing the need for administrative support staff is being felt now more than ever.
On November 16, Lisa Wiehe was hired as our new office secretary. Lisa will work with Brent Anderson to develop a supportive and efficient state-side base for all of our overseas field staff and ministry programs.
Please pray for Stuart, Christine, and little Wesley as they prepare to leave for Nepal. Pray for Howard as he begins making preparations to leave for Peru. And pray for Lisa that her strengths and gifts would compliment the Word Made Flesh movement.
Finally, after many months in anticipation, Phyllis Kilbourn's book Sexually Exploited Children: Working to Protect and Heal is now available. Phileena and I were able to contribute a chapter to this project and with the permission of MARC Publications have included a copy of that chapter with this letter.
