Dear Family and Friends
Greetings from Lima. The past few months have been very busy and full of activity. By the time you receive this letter I will have already seen many of you during my vacation time. I will be leaving for the states tomorrow, first going to Omaha, Ne for the WMF staff retreat which will last 10 days and finally arriving home on the 23rd of July. I am very excited to see what the Lord will teach me during my time in Omaha and hope to see most of you while I am in Crestview.
One of the biggest blessings for me over the past few months was having a discovery team of 8 from my home church come and spend 10 days with us during the month of June. Their time here was an amazing blessing for them and for us as a staff. It was a blessing to see my two worlds come together for a short time. They spent 10 days participating in our ministries, visiting the streets on Friday night, playing soccer with the younger youth, home visits, and we took a group of 10 youth on a field trip outside of Lima, where they played soccer on a full size grass field, swam in a pool, and enjoyed an incredible feast. It was one of our best field trips ever. At the end of the field trip the group gave out long sleeve t-shirts to the youth, which many are still wearing today almost a month later. The 10 days the group was here took lots of planning and hard work, but it was worth it to see my friends from the states, come to know and love my friends here. Watching God open their eyes and hearts to a different world that they had never seen before was a true blessing for me.
We are still in the process of looking for a new ministry center. Over the past few months we have looked at about 4 different building in the city, but have not found the right place yet. I am not discouraged by this at all, because I know that the Lord will provide the perfect place for us in His perfect timing. Please continue to join us in prayer as we continue our search.
On July 20 I celebrate two years of being a part of WMF and I am excited to share that I have renewed my contract and will continue to minister here in Lima for the next three years. It is an honor for me to live in this community and share my life with the youth that find themselves in street context. Over the past two years I have come to love them as my brothers and sisters and want to thank you all for your amazing love and support for me and these youth. I would not be here without you, thank you for helping make my life here possible.
