April 2011 Prayer Letter

April 2011

As the Lenten season continues and Easter approaches, I would like to share a short reflection on this Season and the resurrection of our Savior.

For many Christians Lent is a time of fasting, penitence, sacrifice, and coming to terms with our humanity as we remember Christ embracing His humanity on the cross. There is nothing wrong with having a sacrificial mindset; giving up something in order to draw closer to Jesus. (I thought about giving up vegetables this year, but didn’t think my Mom (or Jesus) would approve.) In fact this can be very valuable. However, since I’ve always enjoyed addition much more than subtraction, I also see the benefit of adding a spiritual discipline to my life. Drawing closer to God through prayer helps me see past the cross and into the empty tomb.

Prayer Requests:

Please pray for incoming and departing Word Made Flesh staff members as they transition.

April is the last month in which I will be paid by Word Made Flesh. Beginning in May, my salary will come from the support that I raise. Please pray that God will provide for my personal needs.

As always, I am so grateful for the prayer and financial support that you provide. Thank you!

In closing, here is a prayer written by St. Ignatius.

Take, Lord, and receive all my liberty,
my memory, my understanding, and my entire will.
All I have and call my own.
Whatever I have or hold, you have given me.
I restore it all to you and surrender it wholly
to be governed by your will.
Give me only your love and grace
and I am rich enough and ask for nothing more.

                             Blessings,
