December 2011 Prayer Letter

Hello Friends,

I was recently introduced to a form of prayer called the Prayer of Examen. The idea behind this prayer practice is to examine our consciousness to discover God’s presence in our day, and to examine the areas of our lives that need further growth and healing. This ancient practice is traditionally done at the end of the day. However, for the final prayer letter of 2011 I’m going to examine some of the ways in which God has been present throughout my first full calendar year at the Word Made Flesh international office.

The first months of 2011 were focused on learning how to do our year-end reporting, sending W2s, 1099s and donation receipts, and closing the books for 2010. Little did I know (but I have a feeling God knew) that I would be doing all of these things by myself in the coming months as my boss Liz is on maternity leave through February.

In March I began planning a trip to South America to visit WMF communities inBoliviaandBrazil. Praise God that funds were raised on time and the planning process worked out smoothly.

In April the Administration Department said goodbye to our friend and co-worker Cesia as she transitioned out of her role with WMF. After she left, I took on a larger role within the department; doing both the Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable.

During the first two weeks of July I traveled toEl Alto,BoliviaandRio de Janeiro,Brazil. The first-hand glimpse of some of the people WMF communities are serving is an experience I reflect upon often. Since I’m serving in a behind-the-scenes role, meeting the people whom we are called to serve adds meaning to my day-to-day tasks. I thank God for the opportunity that I received.

The past couple months I’ve been preparing to take on an even larger role because my boss Liz has recently left on her maternity leave. I’m still adjusting and would greatly appreciate your prayers as I strive for excellence in administration.

I cannot thank you enough for the prayers and financial support you all have blessed me with during my first year and a half with this organization. However, I’m still very dependent on your continued support. As of today I am about 75% of the way to my goal in monthly financial commitments. I humbly ask that you prayerfully consider partnering with Word Made Flesh as we serve Jesus among some of the most vulnerable of the world’s poor. Thank you.

Have a very blessed holiday season!

Jeff
