Sept. 14, the Feast of the Cross was celebrated in the Christian liturgical calendar. This feast is an opportunity to reflect what the cross means to us. On Easter we celebrate the Passion of Christ and the suffering He endured but on this feast day we have an opportunity to look solely on the cross and reflect the eternal salvation it brings to us. The cross isn’t just on symbol we wear around our neck or what we get tattooed on our body; it is where our salvation lies and where God shows us the true meaning of love.
I want to share a quote from Pope Paul VI:
“If we come to the point of comprehending that we are loved to a supreme, unimaginable degree, unto silent, gratuitous, cruel death, to the point of total immolation by Him whom we do not even know, or if we have known Him, whom we have denied and offended; if we come to the point of comprehending that we are the objects of such a love, of so great a love, we cannot remain complacent…”
