On companionship

Dear friends,

Today as I sit down to type you a letter I feel full of things to share with you. I have a million little tid-bits to say and if I could pick out a theme of all these bits it would be companionship. Companionship means “friendship, accompaniment, fellowship, the relationship of being friends.” I can often most clearly see God’s faithfulness through the people that God puts into my life. And God has really given me some wonderful companions in this season of life in Omaha.

Calvin’s arrival in Omaha has signaled a lot of good change in my life. He has really helped me to find healthier rhythms and more balance between my commitment to serving here at WMF and my need for sustainable rhythms for that service. I am so glad to be marrying someone who is already a beautiful man and I know we will both grow into more full human beings through the years of our marriage.

The outpouring of love, congratulations, and offers of help/support for Calvin and I from our people in Omaha and around the US as we plan our September wedding has been such a gift! I cannot believe how many people have given something from their heart to ours. We are so blessed to start our life together surrounded by all this love.

My new co-worker- our staff accountant Jeff- started working here at Word Made Flesh full-time last month. I prayed so hard for another person to be called to WMF Administration and God answered that prayer with a kind, servant hearted, and very smart guy named Jeff. YAY!

I wrote last fall about starting to take a ballet class again and that one class has blossomed into a whole new element of my life. I’m in a community-based modern company here in Omaha (The Moving Company) and will begin teaching a class or two in the fall. Through dance I have been given a whole new community of people to create art and beauty with… it’s so good for my soul!

My spiritual director Sister Dorothy has walked with me through some darkness and hard struggles over the last year. She has taught me so much about prayer, forgiveness and freedom to be true to my self. God has used her words over and over to help guide me as we meet together each week.

Thank you for YOUR companionship, for supporting my work with Word Made Flesh in prayer and financial support. Thank you for the sacrifices you’ve made to partner with me financially, I am so grateful. I know I would not be here without each of you.

Love,

Liz
