Dear Loved Ones,
I received my itinerary on May 15th for a week in Bolivia and a week in Peru, leaving Omaha on June 21st and coming back July 5th. We have not yet heard about Jose's visa, so I was forced to purchase my ticket apart from his; if his visa arrives in the next few weeks, we will try to get him a ticket for the portion that coincides with the time in Bolivia.
I have traveled to Bolivia once and to Peru twice. I love both places and all the Word Made Flesh staff there. Please pray for me as I travel.
In Bolivia, our staff are serving among women caught in prostitution in El Alto. WMF Bolivia was just able to purchase their drop-in-center after Andy and Andrea Baker, our Field Directors there, miraculously met someone in the Miami airport, who after hearing about the center provided the funds. This center provides many tangible things to the ladies and also demonstrates Jesus love and light amidst terrible darkness and suffering.
In Peru, our staff are serving among children living on the streets in Lima. Last year, a foundation asked how they could help WMF and gave all the funds needed to purchase a drop-in-center in Lima. We are hoping to raise just a bit more for renovations so that this center can be operational. We are ecstatic and so thankful for these miracles God provided for our communities.
I'm hoping to serve our staff in Bolivia and Peru through administration and community care and to participate in ministry while there. This helps me be better in my role because I'm reinforcing 'why' I love to serve in WMF….to see the relationships being cultivated overseas.
