Dear friends and family,
Thank you so much for your prayers for me over the past few months. Again, I am surprised at how quickly the time has past. It feels as though I was just writing an update to you, but then I realize that 4 months have passed.
In many ways, it seems to me that not much has changed since the last time I wrote an update to you. I continue to feel like I am living life with one foot in and one foot out of a door that seems to be stuck – neither closed nor open. I continue to struggle with this season of waiting. I still do not have any concrete plans for when my transition to Lima will occur. I still wish that something would change. If I am honest, I confess that I have been sad and discouraged in these past months. As I mentioned in my last letter, this is not the path that I expected to be walking, nor the one that I would have chosen for myself. I know, however, that the Lord has not forsaken me. He is present, even in difficult days. Please pray that I would be increasingly faithful to take time to listen and seek His face.
I am excited to share that I will be going to Lima for a visit in the coming weeks, from February 24 – March 3. Many of you will not receive this letter until after I return, but for those of you who are reading this beforehand, I ask for your prayers for my time in Lima. I am hopeful that it will be a breath of fresh air as I get the chance to be back in that city and reconnect with the staff and some of my friends there. I am hopeful that the Lord will speak words of hope and encouragement, and that I would make intentional space to listen.
In closing, I want to share with you a piece of sad news from the community in Lima. The office of the ministry center in Lima was recently robbed. Below is part of an update written by Monica Ghali and Mike Pastor on behalf of the WMF community which provides more information:
Friends & Family,
Early in the morning on Thursday – February 10th, our office was robbed. They took about $10,000 worth of computers and other donations including our projector, a huge donation of school shoes, and our safe with about $2,200 inside – most of which was for our educational assistance program. The police are investigating at the moment. We’re thankful that no one was hurt. Mostly we’re sad about the money for the kids who are getting ready to go back to school and for all the information lost on the computer hard-drives. Please pray with us as we figure out the next steps. We continue to praise God for his faithfulness to us and we know, as our friend Oscar reminded us this morning, “when they rob us, it only makes us grow stronger”.
They can steal our computers, our projector, our money, our things. They can’t steal our community, our joy, our faith, our love. [I mean, it would be WAY too big to fit in their tiny trucks…]

Please pray for the community in Lima as they deal with both the physical logistics and spiritual and emotional effects of this event. Pray that the Lord would be especially near and that they would be encouraged in the coming days and weeks.
