March 2012 Prayer Letter

Hello!

March is Women’s History Month. So for this month’s prayer letter, I thought it would be a good idea to share how Word Made Flesh communities around the world are making a difference in the lives of women.

The Esther Project is a ministry inRio de Janeirothat serves women who live on the streets. Twice a week women have the opportunity to attend a Bible study, take a shower, and take part in preparing a meal for them and their children.

InKathmandu,Nepalgiving birth to a daughter is oftentimes seen as a burden instead of a blessing. Sometimes infant girls are abandoned and neglected. The WMF community inNepalhas a home for girls that have been abandoned called Karuna Ghar (Home of Compassion). Girls at this home receive an education and are given household responsibilities.

At Casa Esperanza (House of Hope), inEl Alto,Bolivia, the WMF community offers hospitality, discipleship, medical support, workshops, tutoring and childcare to women in prostitution and their families. It is a place of hope and respect – a refuge – where women are challenged to seek the Lord’s best for their lives.

SariBariis a small business initiative inKolkata,Indiathat offers alternative employment to women who have been enslaved in the commercial sex industry. The women at Sari Bari make beautiful purses and blankets, and receive emotional support as they begin their new lives.

These are just a few of the ways that Word Made Flesh is making a difference in the lives of women around the world. While I am working in the international office and not serving on the streets, it is inspiring to know that I play a small part in what God is doing through Word Made Flesh.

Thank you for your continued prayer and financial support. I couldn’t serve here without you!

Grace and Peace,

Jeff
