Dear Friends, May 8, 1997
We took this picture in March when we were with the children. Look at it very closely. Can you identify the 6 children who were diagnosed HIV+? Can you find the 9 children who have a father or mother with Leprosy? Can you find the 8 children who came to the home completely malnourished?
It's hard to believe that these boys and girls used to live on the streets and in slums, begging, and eating out of the trash. Today they are among the brightest and smartest at their school. Today God continues to work in and through their lives.
We want to thank you. You've had a large role in making this possible. Your prayers and sacrifice have enabled Word Made Flesh to make a difference in the lives of nearly 40 children and more than 20 destitute and abused women. Our prayer is that is only the beginning.
We're doing well, by God's grace, but busy as usual. This past weekend our USA Board of Directors met. It was a good time of developing community and seeking God's heart for the future. It looks like we'll be sending full-time workers to Kathmandu, Nepal and Calcutta, India within the year. Then next year we hope to send 2 dozen, 6-month Servant Team members to Kathmandu and Calcutta. We also have 28 young people lined up for 3 summer teams leaving this coming June 1. So there is a lot going on and we value your prayers.
May 15 we leave for Tampa. Chris will be doing a wedding and ministering in a church there. May 18 Chris leaves for a Leighton Ford Evangelism Leadership Seminar at Gordon Cornwell Theological Seminary. Pray that this will be a time of learning and refreshment. May 22 we head to Omaha to speak at Omaha Christian Academy's High School Graduation ceremony. On May 25 Chris will have an Ordination Service at Christ Is Lord Church in Omaha (he received his Ordination Credentials on May 3 from the Association of Evangelical Churches and Ministries). May 26 we get back to Wilmore, KY before leaving June 1 for almost 3 months in India, Singapore, and Nepal.
Here are a few ways you can remember us in your prayers this month and next:
1) Pray that our travels will be fruitful and productive
2) Pray that we would find time to rest and prepare for our trip to India
3) Pray that our support would continue to come in, we've had some “tight” months
4) Pray that God would continue to give us clear direction for the future of Word Made Flesh.
