November '11 Prayer Letter

HAPPY THANKSGIVING

“I long, as does every human being, to be at home wherever I find myself.”

Dear friend,

I am writing today from Omaha, Nebraska. Can you believe it!? I am an
East Coast girl shivering her way through her first winter in the
Midwest. Home for me is Orlando, among friends I adore, with the beach
never more than a comforting 45 minutes away. Still, I look forward to
coming to know Omaha as home. By this time next year I hope to write
and tell you of how content I am here, amongst the corn and hills (they
have real hills here!).

As you might be aware, I have shifted my role with Florida Abolitionist
from staff to a member of the Ambassador council. This was a result of
my accepting a position as the Director of Advocacy with Word Made
Flesh. I feel certain that I am being obedient to the Lord but leaving
FA was hard and I still support the organization, and Tomas Lares’, FA
president, inspirational vision.

That being said, this letter is meant to share with you this new
adventure of which I’m in the midst. Word Made Flesh (WMF) is a
20-year-old, international movement that serves the poorest of the poor
in 11 countries of the majority of the world, offering restorationfor
victims of human trafficking, freedomfor former child soldiers,
opportunityfor youth living on the streets and dignityfor friends with
HIV and AIDS. WMF is the next step for me in what I believe is God’s
calling to be a prophetic voice for justice. As the Director of
Advocacy I am responsible for bridging the gap between those we serve
and those who support us by leading and managing the advocacy
department. Some of the work of our department includes producing our
quarterly journal, “The Cry” reaching 20,000 subscribers worldwide,
managing our digital imprint via Facebook, Twitter, etc.; planning
public and private advocacy events; public speaking; forging community
partnerships, developing and supporting advocacy efforts on each WMF
field, and more!

We at WMF (worldwide) are able to accomplish the work we do because of
faithful, individual supporters. As a new staff member there is a short
period of time where I am provided a salary while I work to raise my
support. This gives me an opportunity to share my story with you. Time
is moving along rapidly and I am already feeling the urgency to meet my
support needs. An important part of my job is traveling to our
international fields to work with local staff. Salary plus field
visits put me in need of $40,000 yearly. Would you commit to being a
monthly prayer and/or financial supporter?

As a supporter, you will receive my monthly prayer letters that share
about the work I do personally, the collective efforts of WMF and the
spiritual lessons I learn along the way, and the new home I am building
here in Nebraska.

It would be an honor to partner with you in this creative work of
justice and hope among our global neighbors victimized by abject
poverty.

For his glory,

AnaYelsi Sanchez
