October prayer letter

Friends,

We really hope that this letter finds you all well.  As we gear up for the cold fall and winter here in Boston, we are realizing that our departure for Thailand lurks not too far beyond this winter.  As friends make plans for this time next year we realize we will be in the midst of the most amazing and probably challenging commitment our family has ever been on, and we feel so blessed that God has called us to this work for Him.

Some of you have given feedback regarding our last series of letters that you enjoyed the Serving as Senders Series and are excited to know how you can serve but feel somewhat disconnected from what we will actually be doing once we get to Thailand.  What we would like to do is over the next months meet individually with each of you to share more intimately, what we feel God is calling us to do specifically as we serve the poor and exploited in Bangkok.  For those of you in California, we hope to see as many of you as we can when we travel through on our way to Thailand. We will also devote these letters not only to updating how our preparation is going but to also educate you, our supporters, on the needs that exist in Bangkok.  This will begin an exciting phase where we can really share our hearts and hopefully stir your hearts for the needs in Bangkok.

I guess as a family we are realizing that there is so much to do in preparation and the process of detaching has begun.  We recently found a home for my beloved cat, since he can't make the trip to Thailand with us.  We have so many little tasks that must be accomplished; getting Elijah a passport, shots, research, setting up language school etc, etc, etc!!!!  However, in this time it is amazing to see God work.  So many people in Thailand as well as people who simply have a heart for Thailand have contacted us; this has given us so many resources.  Thanks to these resources, we think we have found a language school and we will be able to register before we leave to ensure ourselves a spot.  We ask that you would pray for us; that we would be diligent and disciplined in all that we have to do, that as a family we would continue to grow strong spiritually, and that for our little Elijah as her body develops that she would grown physically strong and her little immune system would be prepared for living in a new climate, and for Tim and I as parents.

Our most fervent prayer in this phase of preparation is that we would see God move, opening doors and providing for our needs in miraculous ways, that we would really learn top depend on God for everything!

Thank you! Your support and involvement in our lives and mission mean more than you know.
