September 2008

Dear friends,

I had a wonderful time this summer visiting with many of you! The Simons' family reunion was unforgettable and truly inspiring for me. It was great to reconnect with cousins and aunts and uncles and learn about what God is doing through them around the world. I was also blessed to connect with friends from the Newburyport, Georgetown and Wolfeboro areas. Friends from Hope Community Church surprised me with a gift of all sorts of percussion instruments, sewing equipment and vitamins for the children. Thank you! I'm still waiting to receive the bulk of the instruments, but the few that I brought along in my bags are already being put to good use.

During summer vacation I organized a series of afternoon clubs for the children, including basketball, volleyball, soccer, voice, arts and crafts, photography, sewing, Bible memory, creative writing, world cultures, touch-typing, dance, board games, money/business, and music appreciation. I co-led the photography and one of the sewing clubs and want to share the photos that the children took. I've posted a bunch on my facebook account. So much talent! I am so proud of them!  http://www.facebook.com/photos.php?id=714810706#/album.php?aid=145881&id=714810706

Summer is quickly coming to a close and I'm starting to think about the coming school year.  But before school begins for all our children on September 15, we are headed to the mountains for a week of summer camp, September 1-8.  Camp is a wonderful opportunity for the children to grow in trust and love for God and for one another.  We will be about 30 children and twenty adults.  Please do keep us in prayer during that time.

Keep in touch and let me know what you are up to as well.

We have already started making Christmas cards which will be ready to purchase on-line this month.  Send me an email if you'd like more info.
