Trust—this is what I have learned to live and to experience over the course of the four years in which I, along with the children and my colleagues, have been a part of the same La VIA community. At the beginning we didn’t have the foggiest idea of where to go, what we would do or with whom we would share our lives, but we could clearly see, as we also see today, the powerful desire in our hearts to serve among the most vulnerable and marginalized children and their families and to discover our individual humanity together with them. But the most important and valuable thing was to discover and live the immense love of our Lord who doesn’t forget his children regardless of the state in which they are found. Over the course of four years the children have grown, but we are happy to see how excited they are to still come to our program. I am encouraged by the way in which the adolescent girls little by little are overcoming the negative perceptions about themselves with which they have grown up and which have become rooted in them. All of the things they create, with much effort, whether hand-made cards, cell phone cases or bags, affirms their inner beauty, which, even though it is now timid and hidden, will one day burst forth into a vibrant personality, fully confident of its value. I still have hope for transformation in the life of C., who at the age of almost 15 is not able to do the most elementary mathematical calculations, nor to read. He suffers from severe developmental delays because of the ignorance and poverty of the environment in which he was raised and which has left its powerful mark on his life. He wants to seem rough and strong in the presence of his classmates, causing him to become aggressive—even violent—and to run away from class. But when he is in the game room, he sits on the floor and plays with cars and makes up stories , and this is when we see how gentle and vulnerable he can be. I have hope that as long as we are with him, offering a place to which he can retreat and feel safe, then like the other children he has the chance of going with confidence into this life knowing that he is loved and appreciated beyond all appearances. He will have the assurance that “The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit“ (Psalm 34:18, NIV).
Pray for the adolescent girls who come to our program, that they would be open to continue learning, and for C. and I., two boys who have returned to our activities, that they would continue coming consistently.

Ferice de omul care se încrede în El”. Psalmul 34:8
Încredere – iată ce am învățat să trăiesc și să experimentez în decursul celor 4 ani de cînd împart aceeași comunitate La VIA cu copiii și colegii mei. La început nu am avut nici cea mai vagă idee unde să mergem, ce vom face, cu cine vom împărți viețile noastre, dar puteam vedea clar așa precum vedem și astăzi dorința puternică din inimile noastre de a sluji printre cei mai vulnerabili și marginalizați copii și familiile lor, de a descoperi împreună cu ei unaminatea din fiecare, dar ceea ce e mai important și valoros de a descoperi și trăi imensitatea dragostei Domnului nostru care nu uită de copiii săi indiferent de starea în care se află. Timp de patru ani copiii au crescut, dar ne bucurăm să vedem cu cît de mult entuziasm încă mai vin la programul nostru. Sunt încurajată de felul în care fetele adolescente reușesc puțin cîte puțin să învingă percepțiile negative despre propria lor personalitate cu care au crescut și care s-a înrădăcinat în ele . Tot ceea ce creează ele, cu mult efort, fie că sunt felicitări hand made, huse de telefoane ori genți pune în valoare frumusețea din interiorul lor care deşi acum este timidă și ascunsă va exploda într-o personalitate puternică și sigură de valoare pe care o are. Încă mai am speranță într-o transformare în viața lui C. Care la cei aproape 15 ani nu este capabil să facă cele mai elementare calcule matematice, nici să citească, retardul sever de care suferă din cauza ignoranței, a sărăciei mediului în care a crescut și-a lăsat putrenic amprenta. Vrea să pară dur și puternic în fața colegilor lui, devenind agresiv, violent chiar, fugind de la lecții, dar atunci cînd e în camera de joacă, stă jos la podea și se joacă cu mașinuțele, inventează istorioare și atunci vedem cît de blînd și vulnerabil poate fi. Am speranța că atît timp cît mai suntem alături de el creînd un spațiu în care să se retragă și să se simtă în siguranță ca și ceilalți copii are șansa de a merge cu încredere în acesată viață știind că este iubit și apreciat dincolo de toate aparențele și să aibă certitudinea că „ Domnul este aproape de cei cu inima înfrîntă și mîntuiește pe cei cu duhul zdrobit”. Psalmul 34:18
Rugați-vă pentru fetele adolescente care vin la programul nostru să fie deschise să învețe în continuare și pentru C. și I. doi băieți care au revenit în activitățile noastre să fie consecvenți în continuare.
