Friends,
I’m sending this out to all of you who have loved us so well over the years. Thank you. Thank you for believing in us, and thank you for standing with us.
Sometimes I joke “it’s not bragging if it’s true,” and today with humility and confidence I can say that the Word Made Flesh community spread out around the world is doing great work. Really great work.
In 2010 we opened a sex-trafficking prevention unit in Kolkata, India; started a small business for women in the sex trade in El Alto, Bolivia; opened a community center in one of Rio’s favelas for single parents who live on the streets; started a new field in Chişinău, Moldova; AND we saw our current fields grow stronger, deepening the relationships that our community members have given their lives to.
With all of this great work, we are looking for great partners. Really great partners.
This time of year everyone is asking for donations, but we are asking for your support. We want your faith in our work. We want people who will stand behind us. We want people who so believe in us that they will tell their friends who we are and what we’re about.
Word of mouth is the one of the new currencies and we need you to spend it for us. Help us out by signing a few of your friends up to receive our quarterly journal, The Cry. Ask a few of your friends to help financially support one of our WMF staff members or one of our international projects. Most importantly, please say a prayer for us every time we come to mind. All these things mean so much to us and go a long way.
Each December our Year End Appeal goes to our General Ministry Fund account, the account that helps us run the behind-the-scenes work of Word Made Flesh. We also look at our staff and ministry accounts at the end of the year and figuratively “scrape” off the top of the General Ministry Fund to the rest of the organization. So, your year-end gift that helps us not only run WMF but also helps staff members whose support is running negative or some of our international projects that haven’t been able to raise enough this year.
