June 2010 Prayer Letter

img_7770I am writing to you today from Omaha, Nebraska. I have begun serving with a mission organization in Omaha called Word Made Flesh. I embarked on this journey in mid-May, but have been prayerfully preparing for this adventure for quite some time. I choose the word adventure because that’s how I view my life. Serving others can take many forms, but going where God leads is always an adventure.

This past spring, with graduation approaching, a need for an accountant at Word Made Flesh was brought to my attention. At the time, I had never heard of this organization, but decided to take a closer look. It didn’t take too much exploration before I could visualize myself serving with Word Made Flesh. I wanted to combine my passion for missions with my education and skills within the field of accounting. After many discussions with my parents and friends and a lot of prayer, I decided to join the WMF community as the staff accountant. In my short time here, the warmth and hospitality I’ve been shown has been an affirmation of God’s calling me here.

Word Made Flesh is an organization whose goal is to serve Jesus among the most vulnerable of the world’s poor; making Christ known to all we interact with and reconciling the church with the poor. (www.wordmadeflesh.org) While I will not be overseas, I have the opportunity to serve those who are overseas with my administrative gifts at WMF’s international office. I’m also excited to find new and exciting ways to serve within the city of Omaha.

As I transition from a world of textbooks and tests to a world of eight hour days and paying bills, it has become apparent to me of how little I can do by myself. I am relying on God to provide for my needs, and He will! He is the one who brought me to this new and awesome place, and I want to invite you to take part in what God is doing across the world and right here in Omaha through Word Made Flesh.

Each missionary in WMF, whether on the field or in the home office, raises all of their missionary support needs. Would you pray about joining me by prayer and/or financial support? I am in need of $2500 of financial support each month, but my prayer support needs are limitless. This summer you will receive your first issue of The Cry, our advocacy journal for free, and I will be sending monthly prayer/support letters to let you know about my ministry and prayer needs.

I am really excited for what God is doing in my life, and I’m grateful for the opportunity to share this with you. Thank you so much for your consideration, and I pray that you would have a very blessed summer!
