Even as we’re looking ahead to what the future brings for Word Made Flesh Canada, we can’t help but look back to celebrate the last 20 years of God’s faithfulness.
November 15th, 2011 marks the twenty-year anniversary of Word Made Flesh’s mission and ministry. Just this morning, I had the privilege of participating in a teleconference with representatives from each of the 13 WMF fields across the globe.
We heard stories of joy and lament, hope and difficulty. In all of it, we heard of God’s incredible faithfulness amidst our communities who serve Jesus amongst the most vulnerable of the world’s poor.
It’s a challenge to think ahead. It’s a challenge to pay attention to where God’s spirit is leading our young Canadian community. And yet, we truly believe that God is in this work. That God has called us. God has called us to serve and to be served.
That through our relationships and friendships with those who suffer from poverty, we might all discover more of what it means to be human. That through the mutuality of our relationships, we would come to see ourselves, and each other as God’s image bearers in this place.
Looking ahead to 2012, we’re excited. We’re excited for what will come. We’re excited to build this Canadian community together.
And we’re excited that you’re on the journey with us.
