The first day of September is associated with a new beginning. Children return to school as a myriad of thoughts and emotions overwhelm them: new hopes of doing better, of success, and the desire to write well for their teachers. This beginning of September is even more special for the children of former “Internat #2” School because this year the school begins a new journey, reorganized as “Decebal Community School”. This internat, or boarding school, which was formerly house, home and residence for many children, slowly enters the history books. This history is one which we in no way want to see repeated, as we remember so many children’s destiny stigmatized by the existence of these boarding schools.
The children from Decebal Community School try to look toward the future with hope, just like children from many other institutions in our country. All the socio-economic problems with zeroes, numbers, misunderstandings and politicians don’t really matter in the minds of these children. Rather they feel and desire to grow up happy with their parents nearby, with a mom and dad working hard to offer them all the necessities to lead a decent life.
We hope that this school year will bring the best memories yet for the children so that at the end of the year they will all say “We want to come back to school!”
